Preventing foreign labor in Saudi women shops to avoid seduction
Saudi Arabia, Culture, 1/29/2002
The Saudi authorities have prevented foreign laborers under 40 year old from working in the women shoes, accessories and perfumes shops -- the same measure applies on shops selling gold and women wears.
The Saudi daily al-Watan issued on Monday said that the Saudi ministry of the interior on Monday approved new conditions to recruit foreign labors in shops frequently trodden by women in order to limit foreign force and to prevent seduction.
The paper said that the Saudi ministry of commerce informed the chambers of commerce in the Kingdom its decisions to prevent " foreign laborers under 40 year old working in the accessories, shoes and perfumes shops for women," in line with observations shown by the executive committee of al-Riyadh district Emirate.
The news published by the paper did not clarify if the banning decision will also include the Saudis who are under 40 year old.
