Butaflika: al- Maghreb unity is a must
Algeria-Maghreb, Politics, 1/29/2002

The Algerian President Abdul Aziz Butaflika stressed on Sunday that the Maghreb unity is a must for the countries of the Arab Maghreb states due to the existing economic aggregation especially the Europeans blocs.

News reports quoted the Algerian President as saying in an official statement following a session for the Algerian cabinet on Sunday that it is the fate of Algeria to always work relentlessly in this regard. He added that the resumption of the Maghreb unity operation through the Arab Maghreb federation - Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco and Mauritania Ð constitutes one of our utmost priorities.

He stressed the need of a systematic foundation of the Arab Maghreb federation and to follow the examples of regional aggregations which proved credibility and also to take into account the legal interests of all partners.
