Jordanian ministry of the interior refuses to license party
Jordan, Politics, 1/29/2002

The Jordanian ministry of the Interior has refused the request applied by the constituent commission to license the Jordanian Socialist national party.

In a statement circulated on Monday, the constituent commission said that this rejection is the first unprecedented event since the issuance of the Jordanian political parties law in 1992.

The commission explained that the minister of the interior justified this rejection that the constituent of the said party does not have items stated in the Jordanian constitution and parties law.

The commission stressed that the constituent and the principles of the said party included all requirements to be met for founding the political parties on the Jordanian arena.

In its statement, the party's constituent commission said that the Jordanian social nationalists consider, through this rejection for founding their party, they are targeted intellectually and politically and that the objective of the government is not to license party activity for the socialists nationals in Jordan.
