Israel violates signed agreements every day, every minute
Egypt-Palestine, Politics, 1/28/2002

Egypt's Foreign Minister Ahmed Maher said he would convey a verbal message from King Abdullah to President Mubarak reaffirming identical viewpoints on the need for continued and coordinated Arab efforts to prevent further deterioration and urge the US to take a stance to calm down the situation.

On the international community's responsibility as to the grave developments in the Palestinian areas, Maher said the world should work for implementing international resolutions and signed agreements which are violated every day and every minute by Israel.

Jerusalem attack on Sunday and the Tel Aviv blast two confirm that suppressive measures would not lead to or stability, added Maher.

The only way for realizing security for the Palestinian people and the Israelis as well as is through ending the current Israeli practices and pushing ahead with peace negotiations, Maher said.

He reiterated Egypt's condemnation of any attack against civilians, asserting that the only way to end this is to stop the Israeli suppressive measures and return to the negotiation table.

On American and Israeli statements blaming Palestinian President Yasser Arafat for what is going on, although he himself is besieged by the Israeli forces in Ramallah, Maher underlined that weakening the Palestinian Authority does not enable it to take the necessary measures.

Any way, the most principal and important responsibility lies on Israel and the Israeli government's provocations which trigger reactions.

On banning Arafat's departure out of Ramallah to attend a European meeting in Brussels, Maher reiterated that Arafat is the legitimate representative and democratically elected leader of the Palestinian people.

Israel's siege of President Arafat is a violation of all international Palestinian people, asserted the foreign minister.
