Football: Morocco defeat Burkina Faso in African Cup
Morocco, Sports, 1/28/2002
Morocco defeated Burkina Faso 2-1 Saturday in a second match of the African Nations Cup (CAN-2002).
Morocco scored in the first half when Zerouali of Scottish Abderdeen Club took advantage of an error of the Burkina Faso defenders.
The North Africans squandered several scoring chances in the first half and in the beginning of the second half, before Burkina Faso equalized.
Towards the end of the game, Zerouali unexpectedly headed a lost ball into the Burkina Faso net and sealed his team's win.
The victory put Morocco on top of their Group B with 4 points ahead of South Africa and Ghana (2 points) and Burkina Faso (1 point).
Morocco will play their third match against South Africa on Wednesday, while Burkina play Ghana.
A draw will be enough to put Morocco into the quarter final.
