Yemen releases son of Abu Hamza al-Masri, evacuated to London
Yemen, Politics, 1/28/2002
The Yemeni authorities on Saturday released Muhammad Mustafa Kamel, son of the Islamist extremist Abu Hamzeh al-Masri, of the British nationality after he had spent three year imprisonment penalty.
The Yemeni police evacuated Kamel ( 20 year old) to London after releasing him from a prison in Aden from where he took the plane flying to London.
A source at the Yemeni foreign ministry said that the ministry handed a notification to the British embassy on evacuating Kamel and renewed its request over handing over his father Mustafa Kamel ( better known as Abi Hamzeh al-Masri), who is accused of being behind several terrorist operations that took place in Yemen in 1998.
The director of Aden province security Maj. gen. Muhammad Saleh said releasing Muhammad Mustafa Kamel is an assertion to the commitment of the Yemeni authorities to the judiciary law.
