UN chief visits Qatar

The UN Secretary General Kofi Annan arrived on Sunday in Doha. He was accompanied by the UN special envoy for Afghanistan El Akhader al-Ibraheimi, in a visit which will deal with conditions in the Palestinian territories and Afghanistan. The Qatari News Agency quoted Annan as saying that he was to discuss with the Qatari officials developments in the region and conditions in Afghanistan.
Worthy mentioning that Qatar currently assumes the presidency of the Organization of the Islamic Conference which includes 57 countries.
