Syrian reservation on the final statement of the Jerusalem committee

The Jerusalem committee held in Morocco has held a close door meeting following the inauguration ceremony during which speeches of the committee's members states were delivered.

The committee also held another meeting during which the participants discussed conditions in the Palestinian territories. In light of that the final statement of the meetings of the 19th session of the Jerusalem Committee in Marrakesh in which the Syrian delegation found a violation to previous Arab and Islamic statements, as it talked about The Mitchell Report and Tenet Report and ignored the Palestinian Intifada and resistance as a legitimate right. A matter which resulted in that Syria's ambassador in al-Rabat and its representative to the meetings submitted a " written reservation" to the general secretariat of the Jerusalem committee over certain items stated in the final statement of the committee's meetings.

The Jordanian King Muhammad VI on Friday in Marrakesh opened works of the 19th session of Jerusalem committee.

The speakers at the inaugural session were the Moroccan King, the chairman of the PLO political department Farouk al-Qaddoumi, the spokesman for the Orthodox Church, clergy Atallah Hanna. They denounced in their speeches the ugly policy conducted by the Israelis against the Palestinians.

They called on the International community to shoulder their responsibility towards the deteriorated conditions and the grave situation in the Palestinian territories.
