The UN urges Israel to halt its violations of south Lebanon

Lebanese security sources said that the Israeli occupation forces opened its heavy machine- gun fire on Friday at the eastern hills of Kafer Shouba town and the surrounding farms. The bombardment was made from the Israeli position in Rweisat al-Alam and al-Sammaqa.

These sources said that the Israeli settlements in the north of Israel witnessed a state of alert and the streets there were evacuated just from moves of military vehicles. Tens of armed Israeli soldiers were deployed along the roads leading to the Lebanese borders with Israel.

Meantime, the personal representative for the UN Secretary General to South Lebanon Stevan De Mistora has called on the Israeli authorities to put an end to the Israeli warplanes violation of the Lebanese airspace.

In a statement circulated by the media office of the UN in Beirut, De Mistora said that two Israeli warplanes on Thursday violated the Lebanese airspace.
