Mrs. Mubarak's promotes cooperation between Alexandria Library and the Chinese National Library

Egypt's First Lady Mrs. Suzanne Mubarak who is now visiting China, received at Diaoyoutai State Guesthouse, the wife of Zhu Rongji Head of the Chinese State Council.

The two sides dealt with efforts exerted by the two countries in the domains of social development and the conditions of women and children in both Egypt and China.

Mrs. Suzanne Mubarak, offered a number of Egyptian books to the Chinese National Library during a visit to the library on Thursday.

She said her interest to visit this great library emanates from her interest in culture.

She cited the official inauguration of Bibliotheca Alexandrina in April this year in order to restore the ancient glory of Alexandria and the enlightening role of the library.

She expressed her desire to boost cooperation between Alexandria Library and the Chinese National Library to exchange knowledge and the experiences of the two countries in modernization.

On his part, the library director voiced his happiness over Mrs. Mubarak's visit, thanking her for the precious book she presented to the library.

He said the library, the biggest in Asia, is ready to bolster cultural exchange with Egypt via exchange of books and information to promote understanding between Cairo and Beijing On this occasion, the director offered Mrs. Mubarak the library's honorary certificate.

Mrs. Mubarak also met with deputy dean of the Social Science Academy in Beijing Jiang Lan Shang.

Mrs Mubarak briefed Jiang on Egypt's pioneering experience in the field of social development, upgrading the society and spreading the culture and knowledge among the Egyptian families On her part, the Chinese academician appreciated Muharak's role in developing the Egyptian society, which extends to include Arab and African countries.

She said that the civilized progress must not be measured by achieving the high rise in rates of savings, investments and the national income, but rather by the progress in the field of education, health and social security.

Mrs Mubarak addressed the Chinese Academy on the social development in Egypt during the two post decades.
