Report: National economy minister hails relations between Oman and UAE

Ahmed bin Abdul-Nabi Macki, Minister of National Economy and Supervisor of the Finance Ministry and Maqbool bin Ali Sultan, Minister of Commerce and Industry held a meeting today with Said Khalfan Mattar al-Rumaithi, Director-General of Abu Dhabi Development Fund, The Oman News Agency reported

During the meeting cooperation between the Sultanate and Abu Dhabi Development Fund was discussed and existing joint ventures in the Sultanate were reviewed.

Macki said relations between the Sultanate and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) were strong and excellent.

These relations were characterized by the countries long and joint history embodied by the true brotherhood between His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said and Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan al-Nahyan. These relations are based on solid foundation thanks to the two leaders wise vision.

In a statement to Oman News Agency, Macki said the policy of continued consultation and coordination between the leaders of the two countries had laid down firm foundations of brotherly and strong ties between the two countries represented in the cooperation in various fields particularly in the economic fields pointing to a joint venture "Oman and Emirates Company" in which the two countries had equally in Jected RO. 15 million into.

Macki stressed the Sultanate's keenness to increase cooperation between them in translation of the directives of Sultan Qaboos bin Said and Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan al-Nahyan, as well as increasing coordination in all fields.

He pointed to the cooperation with Abu Dhabi Development Fund which provides soft interest free loans to implement projects in the Sultanate, such as, al-Askharah fishing harbor, Sharqiyah Region, Dhalkut harbor in the Governorate of Dhofar and several roads in the Wusta and Dhakhiliyah Regions which are near completion.

Macki said that the forthcoming meeting of the economic committee between the two brotherly countries would hold a meeting soon to finish laying down the agenda of the next meeting.

The UAE topped the countries importing Omani non oil commodities during the first nine month of last year as it imported goods worth RO. 64.1 million from Oman.The UAE again topped the countries exporting to the Sultanate as RO. 468.5 million of goods were imported from it, The Oman News Agency reported.
