Lahoud continues invitations for Arab summit, al-Hariri visit to Damascus

The Lebanese President Emil Lahoud on Thursday learnt from the Lebanese prime minister Rafiq al-Hariri the results of talks he had held in Damascus with the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

Following his meeting with President lahoud, al-Hariri said that Damascus's talks dealt with several issues including the current preparations for convening the Arab summit in Beirut o in March and the need of providing all means for its success.

He added he also reviewed with President Lahoud the results of the meetings he had held with the Syrian prime minister Muhammad Mustafa Miro and several Syrian ministers concerned in issues of mutual concern.

Meantime, President Lahoud received the Kuwaiti minister of state for foreign affairs Sheikh Muhammad Sabah al-Salem. Discussions dealt with bilateral relations and current preparations to convene this summit. During the meeting, Sheikh al-Sabah stressed his country's stand in backing Lebanon in confrontation of the Israeli threats. The Kuwaiti minister welcomed the convening of the Arab summit in Lebanon, noting that the state of Kuwait puts all potentials under the disposal of Lebanon to provide this summit a success.

He said that Lebanon is the suitable place for convening the Arab summit especially at the current time because it has effectively reflected a genuine will through which it could resist and liberate its territories from the occupation forces.
