Three Palestinians killed by the Israeli forces
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 1/25/2002

The Israeli forces on Thursday assassinated the Palestinian security police Riad Khattab in Ramullah and also broke into al-Sharayet quarters in Hebron and kidnapped two Palestinians following confrontations in the quarters resulted in wounding many Palestinians.

On Thursday morning the two Palestinians Jihad Fawzi al-Qassas and Ismael Youssef al-Seidani were killed as they broke into Kfar Daroum settlement to the south of Gaza.

Groups of Palestinian martyrs Abu Ali Mustafa ( military wing of the People's Front For the Liberation of Palestine ) claimed responsibility for this operation.

Meantime, the people's army vanguards also claimed responsibility over the attack on an Israeli military bus to the north of the West Bank on Wednesday and direct hits were achieved.

On the other hand, Israeli political sources said that the US might reconsider its relations with the Palestinian authority. The Israeli radio quoted these sources as saying that the US administration is thinking of closing the representation office of the PLO in Washington and of freezing sums allotted for the Palestinians.

The radio added that the Americans were shocked over a message recently sent by Yasser Arafat to the US President George Bush because Arafat stressed in that message he is working for fighting violence but Israel obstructs his efforts by besieging him in Ramullah in the West Bank and the weapon ship issue (Karine A) is but an Israeli conspiracy.

On the other hand, the Israeli settlements council, the largest organization for the Israeli settlers called for expelling the American ambassador in Israel Dam Kurtzer and accused him of interfering in Israel's affairs. In a statement, the council said that Kurtzer likes to return back immediately to Washington.

In statements he made on Wednesday the US ambassador urged the Israelis and the Palestinians to pressure their officials to work for peace and to seek for an acceptable middle solution. A matter which provoked the Israelis who reject peace.

The chairman of the PLO political department Farouk al-Qaddoumi stressed that the Palestinian leadership is studying reconsidering the agreements signed with the Israeli side including the PLO recognition of Israel which continues its terrorist practices against the Palestinian people.

During his meeting with the Arab ambassadors accredited to Tunisia, al-Qaddoumi called on the Arab states to take a stand that complies with the volume of the aggression launched by Israel against the Palestinian people. A stand that is escalated on daily basis.

On the other hand, a spokesman for Abraham Burg, the chairman of the Israeli Knesset said that Burg accepted the invitation to deliver a speech before the Palestinian legislative council. The date of this invitation was not fixed despite the fact that Sharon opposes it. Burg said he is determined to visit the Palestinian legislative council in Ramullah and will not change his mind even if the Knesset will take a decision against this visit. The Israeli foreign minister Shimon Peres voiced in a press conference he held on Thursday in the Hague his support of Burg's visit to Ramullah and delivering a speech before the Palestinian Legislative council.

But the Israeli President Moshe Katsav urged Burg not to go to Ramullah and deliver a speech before the legislative council of the Palestinians.
