Intensive Syrian mediation between Iraq and Kuwait , Aziz discussions in Moscow

The Iraqi deputy Premier who started on Tuesday a visit to Moscow is carrying consultations with the Russian leadership on bilateral relations between the two countries and the situation in Iraq and the Middle east region, in general.

Iraq pins hope on the Russian help in its being the main alley in the main issues including the lifting of the UN sanctions from Iraq and to avoid the spread of the international campaign on fighting terrorism to cover Iraq.

Meantime, Aziz had completed important talks in Damascus, believed to be part of the Arab efforts currently made to deal with what is called the Iraqi case and to prepare the atmospheres appropriate for convening the Beirut next Arab summit. Despite the " media blockage " on the nature of the talks Aziz held with the Syrian deputy premier and foreign minister Farouk al-Shara, however, the coincidence of these talks with the discussions held just one day earlier by the Kuwaiti minister of state for foreign affairs in Damascus Sheikh Muhammad al-Sabah raised speculations on the existence on a continued Syrian role started by President Bashar al-Assad in his first visit to Kuwait in 2001, just a short time after he had assumed his constitutional authorities in an attempt to deal with the difficult condition between the two countries.

However, President al-Assad's extended visit to Kuwait, then, came to prove the importance given by the Kuwaiti leadership to the Syrian role which has become able to bring view points together between the two sides due to the development of the Syrian Ð Iraqi relations.
