Mubarak to visit India to receive prestigious prize

"President Hosni Mubarak will visit India soon to receive the Nehru Prize for International Understanding, thereby becoming the first Arab leader to get the prestigious award," said the Indian Ambassador.

In a press conference Wednesday, Indian Ambassador Satnam Singh said an Indian High-Ranking Parliamentary delegation will arrive in Cairo on Sunday, led by the former foreign minister, to explain New Delhi's viewpoints over the December 13 attack on the Indian Parliament.

"Egypt has always been one of the most important Indian partners with trade exchange reaching $ 249,24 million in 2001," the Ambassador said.

He added that both countries are discussing exporting Indian wheat to Egypt, which will be one of the major exporters of natural gas during the coming five years.
