Lebanon has taken necessary measure to ensure smooth convening of the Arab summit
Lebanon-Regional, Politics, 1/23/2002

The Lebanese prime minister Rafiq al-Hariri has stressed that Lebanon has taken necessary and urgent measures to ensure the convening of the Arab summit in Beirut in March in appropriate atmospheres.

In a statement to the Kuwaiti daily al-Qabas issued on Tuesday, al-Hariri said that all preparations for this important event in the history of Lebanon have been completed and "we" as a government continue our contacts and consultations with the Arab officials so as this summit to reach a common position to withstand the challenges imposed on the Arab nation, especially the Israeli onslaught in Palestine and the continued aggressions against the Palestinians.

Al-Hariri explained that Lebanon is preparing a perspective to be submitted to the Arab summit relating to liberalizing the trade exchange among the Arab states and to open Arab markets to each other.
