Egypt restores Akhenaton sarcophagus after 90 year-old absence

Egypt and Germany signed an agreement in Munich on Monday, whereby Egypt will receive from Germany the sarcophagus of the great King Akhenaton, the pioneer of first call in history for monotheism and husband of the beautiful queen Nefertiti.
The sarcophagus will return to Egypt on January 25 after 90 years of absence, where it was illegally sent out of the country to Switzerland then was sold to Munich Museum for Monuments and Arts.
The agreement was signed on the Egyptian side by Gaballah Ali Gaballah, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities and on the German side by the Minister of Scientific Research, Culture and Arts at Bavaria Province, who is the honorary president of the German-Arab friendship society.
The Egyptian embassy in Germany played an important role during the past years to restore that unique piece of the ancient Egyptian monuments.
