King Mohammed convenes al-Quds committee meeting friday
Morocco-Palestine, Politics, 1/22/2002

Morocco's King Mohammed VI, chairman of Al-Quds committee, will convene a meeting of the committee on January 25 in Marrakesh. The meeting will look into latest developments in the Palestinian issue and the dangerous evolution of events, caused by the Israeli occupation forces' arbitrary practices.

The committee comprises Morocco, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Iran, Pakistan, Algeria, Egypt, Syria, Nigeria, Tunisia, Bangladesh, Guinea, Jordan, Lebanon and Senegal. The committee held its latest session in August 2000.

An off-shoot of the Organization of Islamic conference, the committee, set was up in 1973 following the arson of Al-Aqsa mosque. It seeks to protect the Islamic and Arab civilization features in the city, occupied and annexed by Israel.
