Qatar strengthens measures on money laundry, financing terrorism

The governor of the central bank of Qatar Abdullah Bin Khaled al-Ateyah has circulated a new order to all banks and banking exchange establishments and finance and investment companies in the country with the aim to strengthen measures to fighting illegal and suspected operations and fighting money laundry and financing terrorism.

In its circulated order, issued on Sunday in the local dailies,the Qatari central bank stressed the need to make sure that any banking deal exceeds 100,000 Qatari riyals ( USD 3064), and other various banking activities, in the forms of transfers or opening L/C or bank accounts, so as to make sure that these establishments are not exploited or misused by terrorist organizations, working as legitimate organizations.
