Iraq proposes a summit of reconciliation with Kuwait, Saudi Arabia

Diplomatic sources in Baghdad has proposed that the proposals of the Iraqi leadership carried by the Secretary general of the Arab league Amre Mousa include the convening of a tripartite reconciliation summit having Iraq, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia..

The sources said the Iraqi proposal states to have a summit meeting between the three Arab capitals directly, or at the supervision of the Arab League or with the participation of any other Arab side.

The same sources indicated that the visit held by Mousa to Baghdad opened the door before purifying the Arab atmospheres and eliminating impediments that hinter the awaiting for Arab reconciliation.

According to these certain proposals debated by the Iraqi President Saddam Hussein during his meeting with the secretary general of the Arab League, the Iraqi vision to attaining pan inter- Arab reconciliation will inaugurate a new phase in the inter- Arab relations and create the optimum conditions to purify the atmospheres from the wrongs of the past.

The sources also stressed that the message that that Hussein assigned Mousa to convey to the UN secretary general Kofi Annan certain Iraqi proposals and points to find out a just and balanced relations with the UN Security Council in order to break the standing frozen situation in the relations between the two sides on the ground to ensure the Iraqi requirements to lifting the sanction imposed on Iraq after it had met the demands of UN resolution no.687 issued by the UN Security Council and find a balanced solution to implementing article 14 of the said resolution, provided for evacuating the Middle East from all mass destruction weapons to also include Israel and not to limit it only to Iraq.
