Morocco's King Mohammed VI on Monday launched construction works of a dam to supply water to the northern town of Tetouan. The king heard explanations on the facility which has a capacity of 13 million cubic meters of water. Out of this volume, 10.7 million will be used for drinking water and 2.3 million for irrigation purposes. Go

Algerian foreign minister Abdul Aziz Balkhadem has announced that the coming summit of the leaders of the Arab Maghreb states federation will be held in Algiers within the first six months of 2002 on the ground that consultations will be made with the leaders of the Maghreb states in order to set a date for convening. The World Health Organization (WHO) hailed the Egyptian experiment in providing basic medicine for the patients in public hospitals, which hit 1,000 kinds of pharmaceuticals while the main list laid by the Organization contains only 320. Go

The renovation project of the High Dam power station is due to start this week at LE 15 million. The main part of the project will be financed by the US aid, LE 13.5 million. The project aims at increasing the power generated from the High Dam at 20%. Go
