Message from Mubarak to Gaddafi

The Egyptian president yesterday delegated Minister of Information Safwat AL Sherif to Colonel Muammer Gaddafi the leader of the Libyan revolution after he had received a message from Lebanese President Emile Lahoud including an invitation to him to attend the Arab summit, which will be held in Beirut on March 27-28.

Lebanese Foreign Minister Mahmoud Hamoud conveyed the message to the President.

The President also received a message from Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat delivered by Yasser Abdrabbo the Palestinian Minister of Information and Culture.

The message deals with the latest developments in the light of the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people and the Israeli fabrication of the issue of the arms ship and the aim of the Israeli campaign.

Gaddafi received the message during his meeting with Minister of Information Safwat Al Sherif who said following the meeting that the message dealt with the issue of the Arab summit and its convention in time.

The message also dealt with deteriorating positions in the Middle East and the latest flurry of contacts by President Mubarak with the US administration and international community regarding a number of bilateral issues and ways of reactivating joint projects between Egypt and Libya.

"I was entrusted by Colonel Gaddafi to deliver a message to President Mubarak dealing with a number of issues and coordination among Arab countries with the aim of reaching a common visualization," AL Sherif said following the meeting.

AL Sherif left Tripoli following the meeting after a few-hours visit.
