Morocco, Economics, 1/21/2002
Morocco's King Mohammed VI on Monday launched construction works of a dam to supply water to the northern town of Tetouan. The king heard explanations on the facility which has a capacity of 13 million cubic meters of water. Out of this volume, 10.7 million will be used for drinking water and 2.3 million for irrigation purposes.
The Raouz dam, that will also spare Tetouan the hazards of floods, will cost 600 million dirhams ($ 52.21 million). The project, to be carried out over 36 months, is financed by the Kuwaiti Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) and the Moroccan State.
