GCC- EU meeting in February

The GCC- European cooperation committee which is composed of experts of experts from the Gulf Cooperation Council GCC and the European Union will hold a meeting by the beginning of February to discuss economic relations between the two sides.

The Saudi deputy minister of finance and national economy, who is also the chairman of the GCC team in charge of negotiations by the GCC general secretariat Jebara al- Sreisri said that the GCC- EU joint cooperation committee will prepare an integrated report during this meeting to be submitted to the joint council which is composed of the foreign ministers of the two groups ( the GCC and the EU), due to be held before the first quarter of this year, 2002.

Worthy mentioning that the GCC signed a cooperation agreement with the EU in 1988 which was materialized by the beginning of 1990s.

The agreement drew the official framework for trade exchange between the two sides and paved the way to reach a free trade agreement through starting long negotiations for this purpose.
