Cease- fire agreement between Sudan, the rebels

The spokeswoman for the Switzerland foreign minister announced on Saturday that it was announced in Borgonston, the signing of an agreement to cease- fire for six- renewable months in al- Nouba mountains in Sudan in conclusion of the negotiations between the Sudanese government and the people's army for the liberation of Sudan.

News reports quoted a joint statement issued by Switzerland and the US, which supervised the negotiations said halting armed operations will start within 72 hours after signing the agreement.

The agreement also states to form a military committee to monitor commitment for the cease- fire including representatives from the two sides and a UN monitoring team composed of 10 to 15 members.

The Sudanese delegation was headed by the foreign ministry secretary Mutarraf Saddiq Ali al-Numeiri, while the chairman of the rebellion movement, the official of al-Nouba mountain area Abdul Aziz Adam al-Helou.
