Regional-UK, Religion, 1/19/2002
A seminar was opened on Thursday in London in order to strengthen " dialogue between Muslims and Christians " at Lampth palace in London under the chairmanship of Canterbury archbishop who is the chairman of the Anglican Church George Kari.
During the seminar, the British prime minister Tony Blair had an intervention in the presence of the chairman of the Catholic church in Britain Cardinal Kormak Murphy, the Jordanian prince al-Hassan Bin Talal and many others.
A spokeswoman for Lampth palace said that Blair " gave his full support" to organize this conference.
Archbishop Kari told the BBC that the conference aims at building and strengthening relations between Muslims and Christians. He added that since the attacks of September 11 the convening of this conference has become " an urgent must" on the ground that the " two religions " ( Islam and Christianity ) are strong and we have to listen to each other."
The archbishop will sign an agreement with al-Azhar Sheikh Muhammad Sayed Tantawi during a celebration and Lampth palace on January 30th. The agreement states a dialogue program between the Anglican Church and the Sunni Muslims.
