Morocco, Egypt resolved to upgrade cooperation
Egypt-Morocco, Politics, 1/18/2002

Morocco and Egypt are prompted by the same resolve to upgrade their bilateral cooperation and to carry on consultation on issues of mutual concern, said Egyptian foreign minister, Ahmed Maher, in Cairo Thursday evening upon return from Morocco.

Maher said the coming visit of President Husni Mubarak to Morocco and the holding of the 5th session of the Moroccan-Egyptian high joint commission were brought up during his meeting with the Moroccan sovereign Wednesday in Tangiers. The visit will take place in the first half of this year, he said.

As to his talks with his Moroccan peer, Mohamed Benaissa, Maher said they covered ways of upgrading political, economic and trade relations between the two states as well as efforts being made to materialize the Agadir Declaration setting up a free trade area between Morocco, Egypt, Jordan and Tunisia.

Talks equally dealt with Euro-Mediterranean relations, he said describing the outcome of his visit as useful and fruitful.
