King Mohammed visits regional center for childhood protection in Tangiers

Morocco's King Mohammed VI paid this Friday an unexpected visit to the regional center for childhood protection in Tangiers, the Mohammed VI foundation for the reintegration of detainees and inmates of childhood protection centers announced in a communique.

The king's visit falls in the frame of the materialization of the goals of the Mohammed VI foundation for the reintegration of detainees and inmates of childhood protection centers, which is chaired by King Mohammed VI, mainly assessment, on the ground, of the state of these centers, in a bid to endow them with the necessary educational and training means and equipment that are likely to ease the reintegration of young delinquents in social and family life once they are released, the communique said.

The king was informed on the state of the center, its outbuildings and workshops as well as on its activities, the communique said, adding he entrusted the Mohammed VI foundation with rehabilitating its facilities and workshops and with consolidating its equipment to enable it fulfil its mission properly.

During the visit, the king was accompanied by some members of the foundation's managing board.

King Mohammed VI had decided to set up the foundation for the reintegration of minor detainees and inmates following a visit last December to the Oukacha prison in Casablanca, where he got informed about the detention conditions of inmates and especially the youth.
