Al-Qaddafi approves Libya's participation in Beirut's Arab summit

Libyan President Muammar al-Qaddafi has approved the convening of the next Arab summit in their due time and place. This was announced by the secretary general of the Arab League (AL) during his meeting with al-Qaddafi on Wednesday afternoon.
Meantime, the secretary of the people's general committee for African unity in Libya Ali Abdul Salaam al-Tureiki said that all reasons used to prevent Libya's consent to convening this summit at due place were eliminated.
Amr Moussa had left Tripoli after a short visits lasted for several hours and came in the framework of a tour the AL chief is making in preparations for the next Arab summit conference. In an arrival statement in his way back to Cairo Moussa said that his meeting with al-Qaddafi was important as the Libyan President said that in light of the current conditions the Arab nation is passing and Libya's care to convening the periodical Arab summits and the common Arab efforts, Libya " will welcome the envoy of the Lebanese President Emil Lahoud who will transmit to the Libyan leadership Lebanon's invitation to take part in the Arab summit." Moussa stressed that the decision taken by the Libyan president is very important especially it comes after a time when the Arabs are in need of highest degrees of Arab solidarity.
The AL chief also commended the statement issued by the Lebanese government in which it stressed welcome to all Arab leaders participating in the coming summit, in which the Lebanese prime minister Rafiq al-Hariri also stressed the importance of the participation of al-Qaddafi in this summit, together with other kings and presidents.
Replying to a question on the agenda of the forthcoming Arab summit Moussa said that it will cover all current Arab issues.
Al-Qaddafi and Moussa reviewed the current Arab condition and the acts of terrorism and repression and siege by the Israeli forces and the Arab and international position in this regard.
Stress was laid on the need of the AL move in order to attain unwavering positions towards acts conducted against the Palestinians which reached the extent of burning Gaza airport and demolishing houses and assassinating the Palestinian leaderships.
Later in the day, Moussa made a telephone call with the Lebanese prime minister Rafiq al-Hariri during which he conveyed Libya's consent to attend the Arab summit in Beirut at its due time.
A statement issued by the media office for al-Hariri said that Moussa briefed al-Hariri on the atmospheres of his visit to Libya and his meetings with the officials there.
The statement added that al-Hariri telephoned President Lahoud to deal with the decision of the Libyan leadership which was welcomed by the Lebanese officials.
Al-Hariri expressed his appreciation for the efforts made by the AL chief in order to provide a success for this summit.
