Palestine-Israel, Politics, 1/17/2002
An Israeli military force broke into Nahhalin village near Bethlehem and arrested three citizens under the charge of resisting the occupation, while an Israeli settlers coach was greatly damaged in confrontations in Baqah village in the west bank.
An Israeli official stressed that the Israeli authorities will not permit Arafat to leave Ramullah until he arrests all persons accused of assassinating the former Israeli minister Rahbaam Zeifi.
The Israeli official said: " we also call on the Palestinian Authority to also arrest the leaders of the People's Front For the Liberation of Palestine Jihad Ghulmeh, Ahmad Qaraan, Yasser al-Asmar and the army officer Fouad al-Shoubaki."
Meantime, the Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon threatened most oppressive acts against the Palestinians under the pretext that it did not abide by the cease- fire agreement.
Sharon admitted that his forces assassinated Raed al-Karmi and claimed that al-Karmi was preparing an operation against Israel.
Sharon added he will continue assassination operations and continued siege against the Palestinians.
Meantime, a spokesman for the American embassy in Tel Aviv said that the US under secretary of state William Burns will visit Israel in the framework of his tour on the region at a time when no date was fixed for the return back of the US negotiator Anthony Zinni to the region, set as tomorrow ( Friday).
