The US and Libya
Libya-USA, Politics, 1/17/2002

American officials said on Tuesday evening that a high ranking American official met with Libyan officials in London last week to urge Libya to pay compensations for families of the victims of the American Pan Am plane which went off over Lockerbie in 1988 and in return Libya's relations with the US will be consolidated.

News reports quoted the spokesman for the US state department Philip Recker as saying that the US under secretary of state for foreign affairs William Burns attended the meeting with British and Libyan officials following an earlier meeting held in October.

Recker said that Libya will remain on the terrorism-sponsor state list until it abides by the UN Security Council resolution which called for paying compensations to the families of the victims of Lockerbie incident.
