Melbourne Tennis Tournament: Morocco's El Aynaoui Qualifies to 3rd Round, Arazi Ousted
Morocco, Sports, 1/16/2002

Morocco's Younes El Aynaoui, 21 seeded, qualified on Wednesday to the third round of the international tennis tournament of Melbourne, after beating Spain's Fernando Vicente.

El Aynaoui, winner of the Doha tennis open earlier this month, made it Monday to the 2nd round of the US$ 8.59 million-worth Melbourne Tournament after upsetting Czech Jiri Vanek.

The Moroccan tennisman maintained for the second week his first place on the ATP ranking released on Monday.

Another Moroccan tennisman, Hicham Arazi -semi finalist at Australian Men's Hardcourt Championships in Adelaide- was ousted at the second round, by Danish Kristian Pless.

A Moroccan tenniswoman, Bahia Mohtasine, winner of the gold medal at the 14th Mediterranean games, took an early leave as she was upset by Spanish Anabel Medina Guarrigues.
