Morocco and Thai Legislators Set up Friendship Parliamentary Group
Morocco-Thailand, Politics, 1/16/2002
Members of the chamber of advisors (Moroccan upper chamber) set up on Tuesday a Moroccan-Thai parliamentary friendship group.
The birth of the new group was announced during a meeting between speaker of the chamber of advisors, Mustapha Oukacha, and vice-speaker of the Thai senate who is visiting Morocco together with a group of Thai senators and businessmen.
The two officials underscored promising horizons opened by this first of the kind visit to consolidate political relations between the two countries and promote joint initiatives for a solid economic partnership.
The Moroccan official urged Thai businessmen to seize investment opportunities available in Morocco, especially in mining industry and fishing and said it is necessary for the two countries to set up a joint commission to regulate fields of bilateral cooperation.
The Thai delegation, which is scheduled to hold talks with members of the Moroccan government, met this Wednesday speaker of the House of representatives, Abdelouahed Radi.
Radi had paid a visit to Thailand last fall and was received by the King of Thailand.
