A disaster could take place in the region because of Israel's practices against Palestinians

Egyptian President Mubarak said the issue of the weapon-laden ship which Israel has intercepted in the Red Sea is a mysterious story and all information about it are contradictory.

At the press conference held following the inauguration of the 6th Cairo Telecomp 2002 exhibition of telecommunications and satellite networks, President Mubarak said Israel changed its story several times as regards to the ship, and at the end the Israelis said they seized the vessel in the red sea.

The whole issue is incomprehensible.... the whole issue is fabricated. Was the ship heading really for the PA as they allege or was it heading for another destination? he wondered.

"The subject is not clear hence I cannot speak of it," the President said.

During the press conference, the President warned that a disaster could take place in the region if Israel did not stop its practices against Palestinians such as demolishing their homes.

He said Israeli practices encourage irresponsible violence and terrorism all over the world.

The President said the consequences of these practices would be much harmful to the whole world and not against Israel alone.

The President said the world should work for the establishment of peace, adding that Egypt is for peace and stability which can only be achieved through protecting the rights of everybody.

The President described Egyptian US relations as strategic and extremely excellent, adding that campaigns of criticisms against Egypt form time to time are expected.

Mubarak said Egypt was exposed to campaigns during the reign of late presidents Nasser and Sadat and would be subjected to campaigns in future,adding that campaigns are motivated by certain elements who work for subjecting Egypt to their wills.

On the visit he will pay to china, the President said Egyptian-Chinese relations date back to many years ago adding that they are continually developing.
