Development in religious discourse does not change core of Islam

People's Assembly Speaker Ahmed Fathi Sorour said that developing the religious discourse did not mean changing the principles of Islam. Rather, he added, it means developing the means, by which one could address people about the principles of Islam in a way preventing overlapping and misunderstanding with others beliefs.
"We target at improving the conduct of people to make them live in co-existence with other religion-followers," Sorour noted. This came during Sorour's meeting with a British Parliamentary delegation that comprised Muslim members of the House of Lords and the House of Commons.
"We reject putting Islam in a self-defensive position due to some crimes committed by some Muslims" Sorour said.
The parliamentary delegation, on its part, stressed that Egypt under Mubarak has been laying important, pioneering role in boosting security and stability in the region.
The delegation praised the wise policy of President Mubarak and his relentless efforts to realize permanent, just, comprehensive peace in the Middle East and to halt confrontations in the occupied territories.
Meanwhile, the delegation's Spokesman said ,after meeting, with the Shura Council Speaker Moustafa Kamal Helmi, that the visit to Egypt aimed at stressing the tolerence of Islam as a the religion of that renounces violence.
The two sides stressed the significance of cooperating among all states to uproot terrorism, a global phenomenon threatening the world stability and security. They, also, agreed on drawing a borderline between terrorism and peoples's struggle against occupation, like the Palestinians right to establish its independent state.
The two sides, also, agreed on on renouncing pro-clash of civilization calls and supporting inter civilization.
Meanwhile, the British parliament delegation denounced the continuity of destruction and annihilation in Afghanistan. ,adding that they support the British views against the spread of war. Britain has dispatched urgent aid to the afflicted people in Afghanistan, said Lord Adam, a member of the delegation.
The visit of the British delegation that comprises Muslim members of parliament aims at beefing up ties with the Islamic world and highlight the tolerance of Islam.
Muslims in Britain enjoy all respect, security and safety, except for one or two incidents that could have happened regardless of September 11 attacks.
