Libyan- French- joint higher committee meets February

The French Foreign minister Hubert Vedrine will pay a visit to Libya during February to preside over his country's delegation to the meetings of the Libyan- French joint committee which will be held in Tripoli to discuss means of supporting cooperation between the two countries in all fields.
An official source at the French embassy in Tripoli described Vedrine's visit to Libya as the most important of its kind as no French official at this level had visited Libya since several years.
The source said that relations between the two countries are proceeding in accelerating steps through official contacts and the exchange of visits. He added that in the course of developed relations the French Senate will host by the end of this month the delegation of the Libya's general congress which will visit France under the chairmanship of the foreign relations secretary at the Libyan people's general congress Suleiman al-Shahoumi.
The source indicated that cultural relations between the two countries are also witnessing great progress, noting that its is expected to hold a Libyan cultural season at the Arab world institute in Paris by the beginning of Autumn and will last for six months.
