Emir of Bahrain permits the return back of nine families from abroad
Bahrain, Politics, 1/16/2002
The ruler of Bahrain Sheikh Hamad Bin Issa al-Khaleifa has permitted nine families composed of 37 persons who live abroad to return back to Bahrain in the framework of the openness policy taking place in the island.
The Bahrain's news agency quoted an official at the public administration for migration as saying on Monday that those persons were residents in Bahrain but of " no nationality," and they were governed by the Emir decision for humanitarian reasons as they have relatives and families in the country. The official did not mention the reason why they are abroad.
Bahrain gave Bahrain's nationality to 3,000 persons living in this Arab Gulf state but carry no nationality. Most of them came from Iran and have been living in Bahrain for many years.
The official said that this step falls in the context of the Emir's successive giving by permitting the return back of those who live abroad back to the country to integrate in their society and take part in the process of building up and development.
