Syrian delegate expected to visit Libya
Syria-Libya, Politics, 1/16/2002

An Arab diplomatic source in Damascus told the Qatari daily al- Watan on Tuesday that it is possible that President Bashar al-Assad will delegate a remarkable Syrian figure to Libya to convince the Libyan President Muammar al-Qaddafi to attend the Arab summit which will be held in Beirut next March.

The source explained that this high ranking Syrian delegate is mostly expected to be the Syrian foreign minister Farouk al-Shara who will convey an important message from President al-Assad to counterpart Muammar al-Qaddafi concerning his ( al-Qaddafi ) participation in the Arab summit in order to withstand challenges and dangers besieging the Arab nation in this phase.
