Regional-Morocco, Local, 1/15/2002

Marrakesh will play host this January 21 through 23 to a Euro-Mediterranean conference on anti-doping, with participation of 240 participants from 36 countries and delegates from international specialized organizations.

The forum will look into practical measures to control doping, education, prevention and training actions and partnership with the world anti-doping agency. Participants will also assess anti-doping action in Mediterranean countries, trade experience between states and sports organizations and identify means to eradicate the doping phenomenon among sportsmen.

European Art and Culture Commissioner, Viviane Reding, expressed hope that the summer Olympic games of 2004 that will be held in Athens, a Mediterranean city, will not witness any doping case.
