Casablanca hosts meeting on weather forecasts
Regional-Morocco, Local, 1/14/2002

Casablanca is playing host as of this Monday to the 6th general assembly of the partners in the digital weather forecasts pattern, known as ALADIN.

ALADIN that musters besides Morocco and Tunisia meteorology centers of 13 European countries is meant to be a tool for digital weather forecasts in the short and mid terms.

The Moroccan meteorology department adopted the ALADIN pattern in 1994 and purchased in 1995 efficient measurement devices.

In a bid to improve ALADIN's performance, the partners are promoting research on data pre- and post-treatment, data analysis and assimilation, and geometry changes. The setting up of a data base is also being contemplated.

The European partners are France, Belgium, Portugal, Rumania, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Moldavia, Slovakia, Poland, Croatia, Hungary, Austria, and Bulgaria.
