Objections against selling Israeli settlements products in London
Regional-Israel, Economics, 1/14/2002
The council for strengthening Arab - British understanding ( CABU) has criticized Hawards's trade center's pavilion in London over selling the products of the Israeli settlements in the occupied Syrian Golan Heights and the West Bank .
The chairman of CABU Sir S. Townsel, the council which is in charge of defending Arab causes, sent a message of protest to the administration of Hawards store owned by the Egyptian millionaire Muhammad al-Fayed that bringing goods from the settlements held by Israel in the occupied Arab territories is a violation to the lists advocated by the European Union and called on al-Fayed to re-consider exhibiting these products.
On the other hand, Arab and British citizens continue to organize sit-ins, in front of another famous shopping center in London " Silvered " for returning back to re-import commodities from Israel settlements after it had suspended imports during the Christmas and new year celebrations.
Since 2001, CABU is carrying out a campaign in collaboration with non- governmental Arab, Islamic, British and European organizations in order to spread awareness of the products of the settlers sold under the name " made in Israel." CABU said what the two shopping center are doing contribute to reviving the Israeli settlements in the occupied Arab territories and actually support its expansion through providing economic support to the Israeli settlers in the occupied Arab territories.
