Egypt, India sign agreement on building smart schools

Egypt and India yesterday signed an agreement providing for establishing a joint company to supervise smart schools project and build up a private Egyptian technology university, in addition to establishing 25 technological training centres.
The agreement was signed in Bangalore by Egyptian Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Technology, an Egyptian information technology company and the Indian institute for information technology.
The signing ceremony was attended by Egyptian Foreign Trade Minister Youssef Boutros Ghali, Minister of Industry and Technological Development Ali al Saidi and a number of Indian officials including the Karantaka state ministers of information technology and agriculture.
The Egyptian delegation is scheduled to start on Sunday an official two-day visit to the Indian capital, New Delhi, where they are expected to be received by Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee.
On the other hand, the Egyptian-Indian Business Council decided in a meeting yesterday increase the Indian investments in Egypt by more $600 million in fertilizers, artificial yarns, pipes and aluminum.
An agreement was also concluded on boosting Egypt's exports to India.
The Egyptian delegation visited some companies working in IT and software in Bangalore, called the Silicon Valley-where 35000 programmers work.
Minister of industry addresses participation summit in India
Investments in Egypt and the incentives provided for foreign investors dominated the closing session of the Participation Summit in Bangalore, India, on Friday.
The summit is considered one of the most important world forums concerned with discussing issues of trade, competition, technology and globalization.
