King Mohammed decrees grace measures for 1,266 convicts

As Morocco marks this Friday the anniversary of the independence manifesto, King Mohammed VI has issued grace measures for 1,266 convicts, including some who are in prison.
A statement of the justice ministry said the amnesty benefits 529 detainees who were exempted from serving the rest of their prison sentence and reduces the prison sentence for another 688 prisoners.
Three detainees had their life sentence reduced to a limited prison sentence, while 29 persons were amnestied from the prison sentence while the fine to which they were sentenced was maintained; nine persons were amnestied both the prison sentence and the fine and eight persons were exempted from paying the fine.
The sovereign usually issues grace measures on the occasion of national and religious days.
