Yemen tightens measures on accepting Arab students and preachers
Yemen-Regional, Local, 1/11/2002

The Yemeni government has suspended measures of accepting Arab or foreign students in the Yemeni schools and universities and approved a series of measures aiming at making contracts by educational establishments and sides concerned at the ministry of justice ( al-Awqaf) to contract with teachers or mosques preachers of Arab and Muslim nationalities and to confine such contracts to cooperation agreements and protocols signed with countries from where there applicants come.

A well informed Yemeni source said the Yemeni cabinet took a decision that makes it compulsory for all ministers and directors of various state establishments to make sure that the non- Yemeni contractors had got prior consent from their countries.

This condition is applicable on Arab and foreign students who desire to join Yemeni universities and colleges.
