Emirates defense minister confers with US defense department representative

United Arab Emirates minister of defense Lt. Gen. Muhammad Bin Rashed al-Maktoum in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday discussed with the representative of the US defense department Doves Zakim several issues pertaining to current regional and international developments especially the situation in the Middle East and Afghanistan and the issue of terrorism.
Zakim stressed in a later statement the importance of ensuring stability to the Palestinian people and providing economic support to them because of the deteriorating conditions they suffer as well as the need of resorting back to negotiations between the Palestinian and Israeli sides.
