Lebanon denies to have links to weapons ship seized by Israel
Lebanon-Israel, Politics, 1/9/2002
The Israeli radio on Tuesday commented on the weapons ship seized by Israel in the Red Sea.
The radio said that the London- based" ship Insurance Louis " company said on Monday that ship " Karine A seized by the Israelis used to be named " Rain K" before it was sold by a Lebanese company to an Iraqi citizen, but a high ranking official at the Lebanese ministry of transport doubted this " story." He said that there is a mixing in names and " Rain K" is still carrying the Lebanese flag.
The Lebanese official added, according to the Israeli radio, that the ship indicated by " Louis " company is a ship carrying the flag of the Island of Tonga.
He added that this ship never entered the Lebanese ports, is not a Lebanese ship and never been so.
