Pope Shenouda congratulates Egyptian Copts abroad

Pope Shenouda III of Alexandria and Patriarch of St. Mark diocese sent a message of congratulations to the Egyptian Copts living abroad on the occasion marking eastern Christmas.
In his message on the Internet Pope Shenouda, said, "the occasion is an opportunity to remember that Jesus Christ was sent with a message of love and peace to the entire world."
He expressed hope that the New Year would mark the end of wars and political crises, especially for the Palestinians who are suffering under the Israeli occupation.
Pops Shenouda III regretted the "painful suffering of the Palestinian people on their land".
In an interview with the BBC late Sunday, Pope Shenouda III' spelled out his deep sorrow over the blood being spilled, the houses being destroyed every day and the devastation that prevailed everywhere.
"Our congratulations to the people turn into supplication for god to restore peace on earth where people failed to live together in peace", said the Patriarch. .
"The tanks rumbling in the Holy Land and the explosions will lead people to no peace. No peace can be built on blood and devastation for this is not the basis on which relations among human beings can be built."
He prayed for god to end this tragedy "so long as the super powers failed to intervene in a way that is conducive to peace.
