Boutros Ghali to students: Terrorism is not limited to on country
Regional, Politics, 1/5/2002

Secretary General of Le Francophone, Boutros Ghali said the world has become surrounded by international terrorism after September 11 attacks on Washington and New York.

Terrorism has become an international phenomenon, not limited to one country or one side.

The world has consented to the presence of one supreme power as the great powers have given the USA, through the UN Security Council, the right to fight terror all over the world. The US-led war is not against the Arab or Islamic states, said Ghali.

In a lecture at the Faculty of Commerce in Port Said, Dr. Ghali spoke of the new international relations after September 11. The lecture was attended by Suez Canal University President, deans and staffers.

Ghali said September 11 attacks have resulted in great changes in the balance of power and appearance of new terror strategies which used unexpected weapons against major targets.

The concessions of the international powers to USA to unilaterally lead the world will marginalize the role of the international organizations.

USA still faces difficulties in its uni-polar world order. China is a competent country to play a major role. It's believed to become the second super power on equal footing with USA, he added.

The European Union EU is also gaining power to play a major role in the new world order, Ghali said.
