Value of Morocco's grain imports increase despite lower quantities

The value of Moroccan imports of cereals in the period between January and October 2001 reached 6.55 billion DH (US$ 569.5 million), increasing by 13.9% compared to the corresponding period of 2000. Figures released by the exchange office show that the volume of imported grains has however decreased by 2.9% to reach 3.34 million tons, compared to 4.46 million tons a year before.
Morocco imported 2.8 million tons of wheat, 1.15 million tons of corn, and 889,600 tons of barley.
