Jordan to recognize the provisional government in Afghanistan
Jordan-Afghanistan, Politics, 1/5/2002
A Jordanian official source said on Friday that Jordan will shortly recognize the new regime in Afghanistan and the provisional Afghani government headed by Hameed Kerzai.
Other well-informed Jordanian sources said that the Jordanian King Abdullah II sent a message of congratulations to the chairman of the provisional government Kerzai after he assumed the presidency over the new provisional government and that the Jordanian foreign minister Abdul Illah al-Khatib made several contacts with his Afghani counterpart Abdullah Abdullah during which the two ministers discussed several joint issues and the developments of conditions on the Afghani arena.
Jordan had recently sent special forces to Afghanistan and a field roving military hospital to Mazar al-Sharif city equipped with all medical equipment in order to treat all medical cases.
